Q: What is the FOCUS of Milestone’s Kids program?

A: A martial arts-based educational program focused on the physical, cognitive, and psychological development of children between 4 and 13. Our method relies on extensive scientific support (article link) to meet then common needs of contemporary families. Our curriculum was designed to help children develop self-defense skills, self-confidence, discipline, self-control, physical fitness, pro-social behavior, and mental strength.

Q: Which MARTIAL ARTS STYLES does Milestone offer for children?

A: To give your child a well-rounded martial arts experience and prevent the pitfalls of early specialization, our curriculum was developed as a hybrid of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and Muay Thai. In full disclosure, our program focuses on grappling (Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) primarily.

Q: How are the AGE GROUPS divided?

A: Our classes are divided into three age groups to respect the different developmental stages of our students. Tiny Champions include children from 4 to 6, Little Champions from 7 to 9, and Junior Champions from 10 to 13.

Q: HOW MANY SENSEIS will be teaching the class?

A: To keep a good sensei-to-student ratio, we have a minimum of 3-4 Senseis for our Tiny Champions Level 1 (10 kids maximum). In some of our bigger classes we have up to 6-7 Senseis on the mat teaching. Our goal is to have enough Senseis teaching to make sure all kids receive valuable feedback and encouragement throughout the class.

Q: WHICH DAYS will my child attend classes?

A: Classes as scheduled as below:

  • Tiny Champions (4-6 years old) Level 1 has classes on Fridays at 4 pm and on Saturdays at 9 am. Tiny Champions Level 2 and up have classes on Fridays and Saturdays at different times. Check this link for the full schedule

  • Little Champions (7-9 years old) have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 pm. There is also an included make-up class on Saturdays at 12 pm that they could attend as their third weekly class.

  • Junior Champions (10-13 years old) have classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 pm. There is also an included make-up class on Saturdays at 12 pm that they could attend as their third weekly class.

Q: HOW LONG are the classes?

A: 55 minutes.

Q: How long is each SEASON?

A: We work with three 15-week long seasons each year, making it easier for families to plan their schedules. In addition to providing children with a shorter-term goal, this approach also allows us to ensure the proper progression of the curriculum. It is also less intimidating for kids to know that they are not the only ones having their first day of practice. Each season culminates in a belt promotion ceremony, providing a clear goal for students to work towards.

Q: Is there a MINIMUM ATTENDANCE required to graduate?

A: Yes. Tiny, Little, and Junior Champions must attend a minimum of 24 classes during a season to be eligible to graduate. We understand that life happens and sometimes things may not go as planned. For that reason, we offer 30-minute make-up classes for Tiny Champions for $35 to keep them current with the attendance requirements. Littles and Juniors have an included make-up class on Saturdays at 12 pm.

Q: Can my child do a TRIAL?

A: To ensure that our enrolled students receive the attention they deserve, we don't schedule trial classes for our kids' program. However, our program is backed by a 3-week money-back guarantee (excluding uniform) in case your child doesn't like the program. We encourage children and parents to watch one or two classes before deciding. We also have some videos on our YouTube channel if you'd like to watch them.

Q: How much will my INVESTMENT be?

A: We offer two payment options: weekly or paid-in-full. Weekly payments are currently $49 for a 15-week commitment. In the weekly option the uniform kit (Gi, t-shirt, string bag, and gloves) is $199. The paid-in-full option is currently $735. In the paid in full option, the uniform kit is $99. Each additional child receives a discount, making the weekly payment $39 and the paid-in-full $585.

Q: Is there any other FEE I should prepare for?

A: Yes. The only other fee apart from membership and uniform is the required United States Judo Association Insurance that costs $75 and is valid for a full year. Nothing else. We have no additional fees for graduation and promotions.

Q: When can I ENROLL my child?

A: To secure the proper progression of the curriculum and the continuity of classes, we offer three enrolment periods per year: April, August, and December. Due to high demands and limited slots, if you are interested in enrolling your child, please complete the pre-registration form for your child to be added to the waiting list for the upcoming season. We will contact you during open enrollment and offer you a first right of refusal.
