GENERAL INFORMATION

General Info.

Event Date: Sunday, September , 2023

Location: Milestone Martial Arts - 6255 W Maule Ave Ste 150, Las Vegas NV 89118.

Required Membership: USJA, USJF, or USA Judo.

RULES (Modified USJA Kosen Judo)

Rules

 OVERALL

  • Standing attacks with leg grabbing are permitted (i.e., Morote-gari, Kata-guruma, Kuchiki-taoshi, Kibisu-gaeshi, Te-guruma, etc.).

  • Guard pulling with at least one grip is permitted (hikikomi).

  • All gripping types and grip breaking techniques are permitted.

  • Competitors will be stood up only if: 1) both judokas are grounded with no clear attempt to improve the position for at least 30 seconds; 2) if one competitor stands up disengaging from Ne-waza.

 

SCORE SYSTEM AND PENALTIES

Ippon

  • High impact throws (as per IJF standards).

  • Submissions (Shime-waza and Kansetsu-waza) for all ages.

  • 20s pins.

Waza-ari

  • Lower impact throws (as per IJF standards).

  • 10s hold-downs.

Hansoku-make (grave infringement)

  • Immediate disqualification from the match: guard jumping, Kanibassami, slam.

  • Immediate disqualification from the event: loss of consciousness, unsportsmanlike conduct.

Safety Stoppages (referee prerogative)

  • Children and Teens: the referee will stop a fully extended Juji-gatame regardless of pain. The referee will stop an Ude-garami when the arm is at an unsafe angle.

MATCH TIME

  • Children and Teens (up to 17 years old): 3 minutes + 2-minute golden score if needed.

  • Seniors and Masters (18 or older): 4 minutes + 2-minute golden score if needed.

  • In case of a draw, referees will determine the winner via a majority vote (two out of three).

Mandatory white or royal blue Judo Gi.

BRACKETS

Brackets

Two athletes: best of three (SmoothComp standard).

Three or more athletes: double elimination - bronze match (SmoothComp standard).

AWARDS

Awards

Individual: medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.

Team: awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd teams (Tiebreaker: 1) number of gold medals; 2) number of silver medals;  3) number of bronze medals; 4) fewer competitors)

Fastest Ippon: Junior and Senior.
